The estate
A place to begin everything.
Villa Balbiano is a sixteenth-century palazzo on the western shore of Lake Como, built at the end of the 1500s for Cardinal Tolomeo Gallio and today the largest private residence on the lake. The estate runs across more than two hectares of formal gardens, with an outdoor swimming pool, a private pier and a boathouse on the water. Inside, seventeenth-century frescoes still cover the walls, and the rooms are furnished with fine art and pieces sourced from Sotheby's and Christie's. Weddings are staged across the lakefront terraces, the formal gardens and the historic interiors, with a seated dinner inside for up to 55 guests. Celebrations of up to 55 guests need no structure; larger weddings of up to 100 or 200 guests are possible with a pre-installed glasshouse, which the estate requires under local anti-noise rules and which is contracted directly with the structure company. Rentals run from a single event day to a three-day, two-night weekend with the six double suites of the Main Palazzo for up to twelve guests, and more rooms for up to thirty. For couples marrying alone, the villa also offers elopements, with or without a night in its Lake Como view suite. Outdoor music ends at 9.30pm and the afterparty at 1am.

- Security deposit
- EUR 35,000 on the event rentals, fully refundable if no damages. Smaller setups from EUR 5,000 to EUR 20,000.
- Mandatory event extras
- Power hub access, toilet attendant service and security are mandatory for every event: EUR 17,250 for the main event and EUR 11,500 for each additional event.
- Music and afterparty
- Outdoor music ends at 9.30pm and the afterparty at 1am. Later is available at EUR 5,750 per hour.
- Guests above 55
- A pre-installed glasshouse is mandatory above 55 guests, under a direct rental contract with the structure company, because of local anti-noise restrictions. It is quoted separately.
- Extra accommodation
- Beyond the 6 suites included, extra accommodation is available at an extra charge, up to 30 guests in total.
- Extras on request
- Opening the main historical gate, extra hours and any specific extra services are available at an extra charge.
- Smoking
- Not allowed inside under any circumstances (a EUR 10,000 fine applies) or anywhere on the grounds outside authorised areas. Smoke machines are not allowed at the afterparty.
- Kitchen Access
- Catering company kitchen access at extra charge
- Approved suppliers only
- Catering, bar, floral decor, lighting, sound, rentals and marquees must be booked from The Heritage Collection's approved vendor list. These are quoted separately and are not part of the venue hire. We arrange them for you.
- Planning agency
- The estate works only with approved planning agencies, and each appointment is subject to its approval.
