Ocean-side ceremonies
Lombok's coastline gives couples the choice between barefoot beach vows and high-drama clifftop receptions — sometimes within the same venue.

Lombok is Bali's quieter neighbour — pristine, uncrowded beaches and headland villas for couples who want seclusion. Its estates suit intimate to mid-size celebrations directly on the sand, with the dry season running April to October.
Why Lombok
Every Brides Venues destination earns its place through three filters — editorial photography, on-the-ground concierge support, and a reliable vendor network within an hour's drive of the venue.

Timing
April to October is dry. Lombok is drier than Bali overall and noticeably quieter in every month.
| When | Season | What it means for your day |
|---|---|---|
| April – June | The sweet spot — rated Best | Dry, clear and not yet at peak crowd or peak rate. Our most-recommended window for an open-air ceremony in Bali. |
| July – August | Peak dry season — rated Best | The most reliable weather of the year and the busiest — book 9–12 months ahead for a Saturday, and expect peak-season supplements at resorts. |
| September – October | Late dry season — rated Good | Still dry, with the first showers appearing in late October. Excellent value in the last week of September. |
| November – December | Shoulder — wet begins — rated Mixed | Afternoon downpours become common. Ceremonies move earlier in the day. The island is at its greenest, and Christmas/New Year rates are the highest of the year. |
| January – March | Wet season — rated Wet | The heaviest, most humid months, with rain most days. Rates are at their lowest and any outdoor plan needs a genuine covered alternative. |
How far ahead to book. Six to twelve months. Lombok is the one destination on this list where a shorter runway is realistic.
Paperwork
The honest answer for most couples is that the ceremony and the registration are two separate things — and separating them is normal, not a compromise.
General guidance from what our venues and couples report, not legal advice. Confirm current requirements with your own embassy or registrar before you book flights.
There is no civil marriage in Indonesia. A legal wedding requires both partners to share one of the six state-recognised religions — Islam, Protestantism, Catholicism, Hinduism, Buddhism or Confucianism — and to marry under its rites, with the marriage then registered at the civil registry office.
A symbolic ceremony at the villa or resort — celebrant, vows, rings, sand or water ritual — is the standard choice and is what nearly every Bali wedding photograph you have seen actually is. The legal marriage happens at home, before or after.
The temple-style blessing many couples add — pemangku, offerings, holy water — is a cultural ceremony. It is deeply meaningful and entirely non-legal.
Legal marriage in Indonesia involves a Certificate of No Impediment from your embassy in Jakarta, religious documentation, translations and registration within a set window after the ceremony. It takes months, not weeks. Confirm the current requirements with your embassy — this is general guidance, not legal advice.
