April to October is the dry season across Bali, Lombok and most of the archipelago; July and August are the peak and book a year out.

Can you legally marry in Indonesia?
The honest answer for most couples is that the ceremony and the registration are two separate things — and separating them is normal, not a compromise.

Indonesian law recognises religious marriage only
There is no civil marriage in Indonesia. A legal wedding requires both partners to share one of the six state-recognised religions — Islam, Protestantism, Catholicism, Hinduism, Buddhism or Confucianism — and to marry under its rites, with the marriage then registered at the civil registry office.
Which is why most international couples marry symbolically
A symbolic ceremony at the villa or resort — celebrant, vows, rings, sand or water ritual — is the standard choice and is what nearly every Bali wedding photograph you have seen actually is. The legal marriage happens at home, before or after.
A Balinese Hindu blessing is a ceremony, not a registration
The temple-style blessing many couples add — pemangku, offerings, holy water — is a cultural ceremony. It is deeply meaningful and entirely non-legal.
If you do want the legal route, start early
Legal marriage in Indonesia involves a Certificate of No Impediment from your embassy in Jakarta, religious documentation, translations and registration within a set window after the ceremony. It takes months, not weeks. Confirm the current requirements with your embassy — this is general guidance, not legal advice.

- The figure shown on each venue page. Bali villas usually require a minimum multi-night stay around the wedding day; resorts price the event separately from rooms.
- Catering and bar
- Per head, and the biggest single variable. Indonesian import duty on wine and spirits makes the bar unusually expensive relative to food — a beer-and-wine bar changes the total materially.
- Wedding planner
- Villa weddings in Bali are built from scratch on the day; a local planner is the difference between a schedule and a scramble.
- Décor, florals and furniture
- Bali's floral and production trade is deep and comparatively good value — this is where the island's budget goes furthest.
- Photography and film
- Priced by coverage hours and crew; sunrise or day-after sessions at a second location are common.
- Sound, lighting and entertainment
- Ask about the venue's amplified-music curfew before planning a late reception — several Bukit and Canggu estates have firm end times.
- Guest transfers
- Bali traffic is the planning constraint nobody expects. Budget transfers and, more importantly, build real buffer into the timeline.
- Ceremony, celebrant and cultural elements
- Celebrant fees, a Balinese blessing, offerings and a legal-paperwork line if you are marrying legally in Indonesia.
